TBI Warning Signs

Getting hit on the head is an unpleasant event and most people will bump their heads at a minimum once a month, maybe even once a week. That level of impact won’t do much damage, aside from maybe a bruise and lump that’s tender to the touch. More severe knocks on the head, or neck, will likely land you with a concussion; the worst and most aggressive hits will give you what is called a traumatic brain injury and/or catastrophic injury.

Traumatic brain injuries are the result of extreme force exerted against your head and leave victims with physical, emotional, and/or cognitive disabilities. Catastrophic injuries, which can come along with a traumatic brain injury, are ones that paralyze victims permanently. If you’ve been involved in a Denver car accident and have lost feeling and/or control in your appendages, you likely have a catastrophic injury and need immediate medical attention. You also need to contact a Denver traumatic brain injury attorney to assist you.

If you suffered a strike to the head and have any of the following symptoms, you may have a traumatic brain injury and need to see a physician to be diagnosed and helped.

  • Persistent headache, or migraine
  • Difficulty with speech, or riding the right words
  • Continuous vomiting and nausea
  • Aggressive mood swings and behavior patterns
  • Persistent pupil dilation
  • Confusion and drowsiness

Always seek medical attention after a Denver car accident as you may have a concussion or TBI and not know it. Additionally, symptoms may not begin to appear until a few days, or even weeks, after a severe strike to the head. Additionally, contact our office to speak with a Denver TBI attorney to assist you with the next steps and to determine the financial compensation you may be entitled to for your injuries.
