Nerve Injuries

Many car accidents involve what are known as “soft tissue injuries.” Such injuries involve primarily muscle and nerve, as opposed to injuries to bones and cartilage. Injuries to nerves may involve microscopic tearing and scarring of nerve tissue. Although some injuries such as herniated disks may be diagnosed through MRIs, other crash injuries may be profoundly painful but difficult to identify through typical diagnostic tests such as x-rays and MRIs. Conditions such as thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS), reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) or complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and fibromyalgia may be caused by car crashes but may not be diagnosed until months after the accident.
