An insurance policy is a
contract. In exchange for your paying a monthly or
semi-annual premium, the insurance company agrees to pay
when you have a valid claim. When insurance companies
refuse to pay for legitimate losses, your insurance
company is in “breach of contract.” Your insurance
company also owes you a “duty of good faith and fair
dealing.” If your insurance company treats you
unfairly, you may have a claim against it for “Bad
Faith.”
