Drugs other than alcohol (e.g., marijuana and cocaine) are involved in about 18% of motor vehicle driver deaths. These other drugs are often used in combination with alcohol.

Drivers impaired by alcohol or drug use are a serious problem in our society. Despite the efforts of organizations such as MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) to hold these offenders responsible for their actions and to create greater social awareness, drivers continue to drink or use drugs and drive.
